HARROGATE CONVENTION CENTER

Phoenix Brickwork, SFS and Drywall have been appointed by repeat client Galliford Try to support the multi-million-pound refurbishment of the Harrogate Convention Centre.

Phoenix’s package includes blockwork, internal partitions, beam and column fire encasements, acoustic moveable wall bulkheads, bespoke acoustic raft systems, suspended ceilings, insulated soffit upgrades, and tape and jointing works.

The project forms part of a wider £9.4 million upgrade designed to modernise the venue, improve sustainability and accessibility, and help the centre accommodate larger and greener conferences and events.

As part of the refurbishment, Studio Two will be reconfigured with soundproof demountable walls, creating up to eight flexible breakout rooms for up to 1,200 delegates. An escalator will also improve accessibility between Studios One and Two.

Once complete, the upgraded Studio Two will increase the venue’s total breakout capacity to 2,600 delegates, complementing its 2,000-seat auditorium. The reconfigured space is expected to generate more than £1.5 million annually by its tenth year.

Work on the main upgrade began in July 2026 and is expected to continue into spring 2027, with Phoenix contributing across multiple specialist packages to the ongoing transformation of the venue.
