THROSTLE REC

Phoenix Brickwork were delighted to work alongside valued repeat client Wates Group on the Throstle Rec development in Middleton, Leeds.

Appointed by Leeds City Council to deliver the £40 million affordable housing scheme as part of the Council House Growth Programme, Wates undertook the regeneration of a six-acre site off Middleton Park Avenue. The development was designed to provide high-quality affordable housing alongside new green spaces and community facilities.

The completed scheme comprises 116 residential plots and a four-storey Extra Care facility, creating a development designed to meet a range of housing needs within the local community.

Our scope also included the construction of numerous brickwork garden walls throughout the extensive housing development, requiring careful coordination and consistent workmanship across the site.

Working across a large residential development alongside a four-storey Extra Care facility required effective planning, coordination and communication between Phoenix, Wates and the wider project team.

Our experienced brickwork teams worked consistently throughout the programme to maintain progress and quality across multiple areas of the development, ensuring the brickwork complemented the wider design and construction requirements.

The Throstle Rec scheme forms part of Leeds City Council's wider commitment to increasing the supply of affordable housing in the area.

Alongside the new homes and Extra Care facility, approximately five acres of the site have been retained as green space for the local community. This includes natural play areas, dog-walking space, landscaping and sustainable drainage features, helping to promote biodiversity and create an attractive environment for residents and the wider community.
