It may be the end of National Apprenticeship Week, but we had one last special mention from Drywall Site Manager Allan Banton on the progress Jomel Kirk has made since he started with Phoenix last September.
"Jomel is currently under the wing of a good team of drywall / SFS fixers who are teaching him all aspects as each project dictates.
Jomel is keen, willing to get stuck in’ and learn all aspects of the fixing cycle and will eventually be ready to take on a team of his own. Essentially speaking with Jomel, this his ultimate goal; to take on a set of drawings, be able to read and interpret them, go on site marking out and building a defect free section of work.
For me this is exactly what our company should be looking for, future proofing our labour force with young people to work alongside qualified operatives and gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.”
