This week is National Apprenticeship Week 2022, this is the 15th year celebrating Apprentices. We are proud of all #teamphoenix Apprentices and it is wonderful to see them doing so well and with this we would like to introduce Apprentice Jordan Crofts.
Why did you choose an Apprenticeship and to work at Phoenix?
I chose to do an apprenticeship to better myself and build myself a life-long career with many opportunities, it also allows me to earn money alongside learning. I decided to work at Phoenix as I had heard a lot of good things about the company, I was previously at a company where I wasn’t given the opportunities to learn. Phoenix took me on in early November 2021 and I’ve made a lot of progress since then.
What do you enjoy most about your job and Apprenticeship?
I enjoy and feel comfortable working on Site, having a laugh in a good working environment that also helps me to learn. Also, I enjoy being able to just get on with the job and task in hand, knowing that I have the support and knowledge of Site Managers, Bricklayers, etc. if and when needed.
What are you most excited for after completing your Apprenticeship?
I am excited for the opportunities that will be presented to me upon completion. Once I have received my qualifications, I will then be able to either stay employed or go into self-employment. I eventually plan to work on starting up my own company which would mean I would be my own boss.
What would you say to those looking to starting an Apprenticeship?
I would say that it is important to put yourself and your own learning first, to know what is expected of you and how you can work towards goals. It's good to have this structure and know what I need to do to achieve these goals as the Apprenticeship progresses.
